Last time we learned 1 a classical sentence"Spit it out."which is used to ask somebody to tell you all hidden in his heart. This morning I would like to share a new expression with you which expresses a person is asked to be told something he doesn't like to hear. What's it? Let's get the answer from the following dialogue.
A : I've some bad news for you. B : Give it to me straight. I can take it.
【答疑解惑】
It is "Give it to me straight." Straight 是直接的意思，the most pure translation of it is: 坦率地告诉我，跟我说实话吧。Straight 还有立刻的意思，the most pure translation of it is: 开门见山地说There's an idiom which is similar to it. It is "straight from the shoulder" . If you say something straight from the shoulder, you are very being hones, even if what you are saying is critical. So , "I will give it to you straight from the shoulder.'意思就是：我要跟你说句实话。

As for"straight", we have many idioms. Such as: go straight, play it straight, straight away, straight out/of, straight up.

"Play it straight"means "to be honest and not to trick somebody". 意思是：诚实无欺，公平正直。I realized those who play it straight in politics cannot be in power for a long time. 我发觉那些在政坛上正直的人当权不久。确实生活中也是，为人有一门学问，真想混的风风光光的，还真得学《厚黑学》。
"Straight of " means "without hesitating". 意思是：毫不犹豫地，直率地。She asked him straight off what he though about. 她直率地问他对这一切有什么看法。
"Straight up" is used to ask if what somebody has said is true or emphasize 2 that what you've said is true. 它用于询问或者是强调事情的真实性，翻译为：的确，真的。I saw it- straight up. 我亲眼看见了，真的。Tell me straight up. 跟我说实话。
