Companies traditionally define their core values, mission and vision statements that influence their decisions and client relationships,  公司通过传统方式明确他们的核心价值观、任务和愿景,因为这影响着公司的决策和客户群。
but individuals also benefit greatly by identifying their own personal core values. 其实明确核心价值观对于个人来说同样受益匪浅。
Your core values are a series of words or phrases defining who you are and what you stand for.  一句话或者几个短语都可以作为你的核心价值观,它让你知道自己是谁,又代表了什么。
They represent the internal navigation system for your life and the filter through which you process all of life’s decisions.  他们是你生活中的内部导航仪,也是你决策过程中的过滤器。
They are the values you would fight for and the attributes you hope others say about you in your absence or after your death.  他们是你奋斗的价值,也是在你缺席或者死后希望别人提到你时的品质。
They become key elements of your personal brand and define your character. 他们能够定义你的性格,也是你个人品牌的关键要素。
Think of the last time you did something that you knew deep down inside was wrong. How did you feel?  回想下最近你明知道是错的却仍然做了的事,感觉如何?
That feeling was a result of your actions being inconsistent with one of your core values.  这就是你的行动和你的核心价值观不一致的结果。
Psychologists tell us that nothing creates internal stress and guilt 1 more than when our actions are incongruent with our values. 心理学家认为,当我们的行为和自身价值观不一致时,就会产生强烈的压力和负罪感。
If you will take the time to establish and live by a set of core values congruent with the context of this lesson,  如果你愿意花时间去建立一个核心价值观,并且按照这篇文章的内容培养核心价值观。
you will make better decisions, enjoy healthier relationships, be happier, and enjoy a more peaceful and satisfying life. 那么你将做出更好的抉择,享受更健康的生活关系,从而更加幸福,也会有更平和与舒服的生活。
