Likely we need more evidence that mastering social media can be hard. We have seen so many people share messages or pictures with the world that they only meant for one person to see.
Maybe even not that.
Yeah, he's right about that, George. It's all known as an epic 1 fail. But now someone who you would think would know better has made that mistake. T.J. Holmes, of course, is in the social square with this one for us. Hey, T.
Robin 2, this guy is one of the top executives at Twitter. And he can't even figure out how to use Twitter correctly. They’d better get back this man back into employee orientation 3 before he gives away all the company secrets in 140 characters.
Ok, so you're on Twitter, you write something only meant for one set of eyes, you hit “tweet”, and then oops epic fail.
“I'm announcing my resignation from congress.”
Perhaps the reigning 4 king of all Twitter fails, Anthony Weiner, the married former New York congressmen who accidentally tweeted a nude 5 photo of himself to his then 43,000 followers 6. But now there’s a new terrible tweeter. And he of all people should know better. He’s Twitter’s chief financial officer, Anthony Noto, accidentally tweeting a direct message about acquiring another company to his 8,000 followers. “I still think we should buy them,” Noto tweeted Monday, “I have a plan”. It's unclear who Noto was trying to send a message to, or which company he is interested in purchasing. That would be big news for a publicly-traded company. But now that tweet is being called “the first ever mergers 7 and acquisitions direct message fail.”
“Winning”.
Remember when Charlie Sheen lost out to technology? Instead of sending his cell phone number to his bro, Justin Beiber in a direct message, tweeting it out to all of his then 5.5 million followers, or the American Red Cross accidently tweeting about getting slizzerd. Noto quickly deleted the tweet Monday and this morning he's not commenting on his viral misfire.
All right, to be fair, yes, the guy is a Twitter executive. But he's been on Twitter for five years and hasn't sent a lot of tweets. He's not really adapted, this guy. So may we cut him some slack. And are there any epic fails you all want to tell us about?
Not that I want to share with you. Ali tweeted out our address once.
Oh, epic fail indeed. How about you? T.?
Well, I once sent something out, and I had to apologize to Miley Cyrus. Let’s just leave it to that.
That story is better.
Much better.
Hey, T.J. Thanks very much. Have a great Thanksgiving.
You too, guys.
