[00:16.77]Western China is a large and beautiful region.
[00:20.94]It includes one major city,Chongqing,
[00:24.97]six provinces,and five autonomous 1 regions.
[00:29.74]The six provinces are Sichuan,Shanxi,Gansu,
[00:34.97]Yunnan,Qinghai and Guizhou.
[00:39.29]The five autonomous regions are Tibet,
[00:42.71]Ningxia Hui,Xinjiang Uygur,Guangxi Zhuang,
[00:47.76]and Inner Mongolia among all these provinces
[00:51.81]and autonomous regions,
[00:53.82]Xinjiang is the largest region
[00:56.41]and Ningxia is the smallest region.
[00:59.86]Western China has an area
[01:01.64]of 5,400,000 square kilometers.
[01:05.93]This is about 56 percent of the total area
[01:09.55]of the country.
[01:11.05]However,there are many mountains,highlands,
[01:14.66]and deserts,
[01:16.32]and there are fewer rivers and lakes
[01:18.37]than in the East.
[01:20.11]Only 22.8 percent of the population of China
[01:22.20]lives in the West,
[01:25.58]far fewer people than those living in the East.
[01:29.71]Western China has a lot of natural resources.
[01:34.02]It is rich in oil and gas
[01:37.15]and it has many different kinds of minerals.
