[00:00.53]A Good Friend 好朋友
[00:05.89]In kindergarten your idea of a good friend was the person
[00:11.46]who let you have the red crayon
[00:13.65]when all that was left was the ugly black one.
[00:16.93]In primary school your idea of a good friend was the person
[00:21.20]who went to the bathroom with you;
[00:23.28]held your hand as you walked through the scary halls;
[00:26.78]helped you stand up to the class bully 1;
[00:29.51]shared his lunch with you when you forgot yours on the bus;
[00:33.12]saved a seat on the back of the bus for you;
[00:35.96]knew who you had a crush on and never understood why.
[00:40.12]In secondary school your idea of a good friend was the person
[00:45.48]who let you copy their social studies homework;
[00:48.15]went to that “cool” party with you
[00:50.89]so you wouldn't wind up being the only fresher there;
[00:54.27]did not let you lunch alone.
[00:56.57]In pre-university your idea of a good friend was the person
[01:01.49]who gave you rides in his new car;
[01:03.79]convinced your parents that you shouldn't be grounded;
[01:07.29]consoled you when you broke up with Nick or Susan;
[01:10.68]found you a date to the prom or went to the prom with you (both without dates);
[01:16.48]helped you pick a university and assured you
[01:19.60]that you would get into that university;
[01:21.51]helped you deal with your parents who were having a hard time letting you go.
[01:26.21]On the threshold 2 of adulthood 3 your idea of a good friend was the person
[01:31.46]who was there when you just couldn't deal with your parents;
[01:34.96]assured you that now that you and Nick or you and Susan were back together,
[01:39.66]you could make it through anything;
[01:41.74]just silently hugged you as you looked through blurry 4 eyes at 18 years of memories;
[01:47.76]and reassured 5 you that you would make it in university
[01:51.56]as well as you had these past 18 years;
[01:54.75]and most importantly sent you off to university, making you feel loved.
[02:00.34]Now, your idea of a good friend is still the person
[02:03.94]who gives you the better of the two choices;
[02:06.25]holds your hand when you're scared;
[02:08.00]helps you fight off those who try to take advantage of you;
[02:11.50]thinks of you at times when you are not there;
[02:14.01]reminds you of what you have forgotten;
[02:16.52]helps you put the past behind you but understands
[02:20.52]when you need to hold on to it a little longer;
[02:23.03]stays with you so that you have confidence;
[02:26.10]goes out of his way to make time for you;
[02:29.16]helps you clear up your mistakes;
[02:31.46]helps you deal with pressure from others;
[02:34.41]smiles for you when you are sad; helps you become a better person...
[02:39.44]And most importantly loves you!
