A top Indonesian search official says the missing Air-Asia passenger jet is likely at the bottom of the Java Sea. The plane disappeared Sunday on its way from Indonisia to Singapore with 162 passengers and crew.

And a surfer has survived a shark bite off the central California coast. Witnesses say the man was dragged under water by the shark and suffered a bite to his hip 2 before swimming away.
