[02:28.56]Bill Banks was extremely 3 worried.

[02:32.40]In his case he had an important computer program

[02:37.57]for a new type of defence 4 satellite 5 which he was taking to Japan.

[02:44.23]He had picked it up from a research station in the desert the day before.

[02:50.29]Now he was in Cairo 6,the capoital of Egypt.

[02:54.94]Once again he paused 7 in front of a shop window as though he was admiring something,

[03:01.79]then glanced over his shoulaer before continuing down the street.

[03:06.93]The two men were still following him,that was certain.

[03:11.79]Bill recognized the one with a beard.

[03:15.76]He was sure they wanted to catch him before he could get to the airport.

[03:24.25]Surely ther was somewhere in Cairo where he could escape from them.

[03:39.40]and thought carefully for a few seconds.

[03:43.66]Now...what was the name of the hotel he had stayed in the last time he was in Cairo?

[03:52.99]In a flash he remembered everything and a plan began to form in his mind.

[03:59.36]He held out his hand and stopped a taxi."Pyramid 9 Hotel,"he said to the driver.

[04:06.44]On his arrival 10 he went straight to the counter 11

[04:11.17]and spoke 12 to the clerk in uniform behind it.

[04:15.53]He appeared calm,but inside his heart was beating wildly with fear.

[04:21.88]"I'd like a room for one night,"he said,

[04:25.95]and showed the clerk a little drawing that he had done in the taxi.

[04:31.41]The clerk was very helpful and was able to give Bill exactly the room he required.

[04:38.47]Bill did not go up to his bedroom immediately.

[04:42.91]The two men had followed him to the hotel in another taxi

[04:47.16]and were now watching him through the glass doors of the hotel entrance.

[04:54.92]Bill had a look around.There was only one entrance to the hotel.

[04:59.28]The two men could see him leave the hotel,or they could follow him upstairs,

[05:05.53]break into his room and steal his case.Bill felt a little safer downstairs.

[05:12.61]Outside the entrance stood two police officers with guns.

[05:18.25]In the long passages of this hotel it might be dangerous to walk alone.

[05:30.08]He walked over to one of the telephones and called his friend Mick Miles.

[05:41.39]Can you come at once to Pyramid Hotel?How quickly can you get here?Good.

[05:48.45]When you arrive,go to the clerk at the desk.

[05:53.20]Ask for me by name but don't say my name aloud.

[05:58.16]Just show the clerk a piece of paper with my name written on it.

[06:03.34]Don't go to my room.Telephone my room from downstairs.

[06:08.69]Listen,but don't say anything don't repeat anything.That's very important!

[06:46.36]It stopped and a tall fair man with sunglasses got out.

[06:52.84]Bill smiled to himself and began to feel less anxious.

[06:59.08]Then he walked up to the counter and spoke to the clerk.

[07:08.62]I'd prefer someone large,he thought to himself.

[07:13.06]They took the lift to the fourth floor and went to Room 411.

[07:19.30]Bill entered the room,had a look around and smiled.This was perfect!

[07:43.39]The man with beard smiled to himself.This was perfect!

[07:50.54]Right now he had two men outside the hotel.

[07:55.72]He had two men inside the entrance,two on the stairs.

[08:06.14]The moment he entered the room,Bill fixed 13 the chain across the door.

[08:40.72]He had never been to Japan before,but now he had the chance.

[08:51.96]and felt the flat box containing the computer program--it was safe with him.

[09:00.29]He wondered whether Bill had managed to escape.

[09:04.73]And what a curious hotel it was! It was perfect for a tricxk like this.

[09:18.24]broke off the chain and pushed the table to one side.

[09:24.01]They found themselves next to a bathroom at the bottom of a flight of twelve stairs.
