1. Awfully sorry is used in colloquial 5 English, meaning 'Very sorry'. 'I'm awfully sorry' is a useful expression in making an apology. Some other apologetic expressions are: 'Oh, I'm sorry', 'It's my fault', 'Sorry to trouble you', 'I'm afraid I can't...', etc. Answers to apologies are: 'That's quite all right', 'It doesn't matter', 'Not at all', etc.
