Man Yes?

Woman Could you tell me how far it is to the National Arts Center?

Man Yes. It's only a ten-minute walk from here.

Woman How can I get there? I'm a stranger here, you see.

Man Well, you walk down this street two blocks to the traffic lights.

Woman Two blocks to the traffic lights. And then?

Man Then turn left and you'll be on Queen Street. There's a big hotel on the corner and the National Arts Center is right there. You can't miss it.

Woman Turn left at Queen Street and look for the Center beside the big hotel.

Man Right.

Woman Thank you very much for your help. By the way, could you tell me where I can get a cup of coffee?

Man Er... You can get a coffee in the National Arts Center.

Woman Many thanks.

Man You're welcome.

II. Language and Culture Notes

1. You can't miss it means 4 'You're sure to find it', or 'It's impossible for you to miss it'.

2. You're welcome is a polite response to 'Thank you' in American English. The British way is usually to say 'Not at all', 'Don't mention it', 'That's all right', or 'It's a pleasure'.

II. Language and Culture Notes

You've got it is an expression in colloquial 8 English, meaning 'You've got the idea', 'You've got the answer', etc. The expression can also be used in its short form of 'Got it' either as a question or a statement 9.
