Hollywood, like everyone else, loves a good Christmas movie, and this holiday season is no exception. A plethora 1 of films are being offered up to Americans, who have a little extra time and money on their hands.

For Americans the holiday season means many things: helping 2 the needy 3 hopping 4 for deals, gift giving and taking from mall mob scenes to epic 5 movie scenes from biopics like Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom tis also the season for a healthy helping of Hollywood entertainment.

It’s a time when the Hollywood studios pack the box office with theatrical 6 stocking stuffers: big budget blockbusters, superhero sequels, animated 7 3D fantasies, Christmas family films and bona fide Oscar bait.

And this season is no different. Franchise 8 films are "Catching 9 Fire" with the Hunger Games-Two record-breaking run.

Not to mention other popular sequels like: Thor: the Dark World to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

And "Frozen" exceeded expectations. The animated three-D take on Hans Christian 10 Andersen’s "The Snow Queen" set a Thanksgiving weekend debut 11 record of 93-million dollars and counting. But with gritty dramas like American Hustle 12 and Christmas comedies like The Best Man Holiday there’s a glut 13 of movies vying 14 for a piece of the box office pie.

But the hope for studios is to deliver the gift that keeps on giving through awards season, holiday season and ..possibly through future sequels to come
