Lesson53 A Seeing — eye Dog
A seeing-eye dog is a special dog which helps blind 1 people. We call these dogs “seeing-eye” dogs because the dogs are the “eyes” of the blind man and they help him to “see”. These dogs generally 2 go to special schools for several 3 years of training 4.
One day a seeing-eye dog and a blind man got 5 on a bus together. The bus was 6 full of people and there were no seats 8. One man, however 9, soon got up and left his seat 7. The dog took 10 the blind man to the seat, but there was very little space.
The dog began to push 11 the people on each side 12 with his nose. He pushed 13 and pushed until 14 the people moved down and finally 15 there was enough space for two people. The blind man then sat 16 down and the dog got up on the seat next to him. He lay 17 down and put his head on the leg of the blind man. He was very comfortable 18 and soon fell 19 asleep 20.
Everyone on the bus smiled at the intelligence 21 of the dog in making space for the blind man and, at the same time, making a place for himself 22.
