1. Let bygones be bygones
中文里有句俗语叫做“过去的就让它过去吧”,意思是让人别老记在心上,英文里的表达也极其相似,通常用来表示谅解。
例:I know we've had our fights over the years, but I think it's time we let bygones be bygones.
我知道咱们过去几年没少吵过,可我觉得是时候该放下,让一切都过去了。
2. Don't give it a second thought
Second thought可以表示“重新考虑”、“改变主意”,不过有些事情再怎么想也无济于事,所以干脆扔掉包袱,轻松前行吧~
例:Don't give a second thought to that broken 1 vase 2.
别再想那个被打碎的花瓶了。
3. It's no use crying over spilled milk
中文里说“覆水难收”,英文也有句话叫做“打翻了牛奶,哭也没用”,表示事已至此,伤心也没用。
例:It's no use crying over spilled milk - he's spent all the money, and there's nothing you can do about it.
事已至此,别太难过了——他花光了所有钱,可你也没辙啊。
4. Better luck next time
碰上小伙伴遭遇挫折或者失利,最好的翻篇方式是帮TA忘记不愉快,看向希望和远方。这句话口语中常用在别人失败时送上鼓励。
例:I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get the job. Better luck next time.
真遗憾你没能得到那份工作。希望下次好运。
