M: Good morning. My name is Mary.
O: Good morning. Sit down, please. Would you mind if I ask you some questions?
M：Of course not.
O: What do you go to America for?
M: I'd like to study for my Master's Degree.
O: Will you get any kind of scholarship?
M: Yes. The school has provided 1 me with a partial 2 scholarship. And my father is ready to cover the rest expenses. Here is the bank account proof 3.
O: All right. Are you planning to work in America after graduation?
M: No, sir. I'm sure to come back to China as soon as I get my degree. Anyway it's my hometown. I think it's better to start up my own business in my familiar place than in other countries.
O: OK, we'll complete the formalities for your entry visa as soon as possible. We'll inform you at once.
M: Thank you very much.
英语笔记
1.此处用升调表示客气。
2.Master's Degree 意为“硕士学位”。
3.partial scholarship 是指“部分奖学金”，full scholarship 是指“全额奖学金”。
4.start up 有“开办”的意思，“start up one's business”意思是“创业”。
5.own/?un/与owe/?u/发音相近，不要混淆。

升调表示客气
What do you do the States for?是询问句，要用升调表示客气。Are you planning to work in America after graduation?是一般疑问句，也要用升调表示客气。表示请求和询问的方法和句式有很多，但相同的句式结尾用升调或降调，言外之意大不一样。如：
I'd like some information about going abroad, please.
尽管此句是一个陈述句，但也用升调表示客气。
What's your name?
如果要用降调，除非你是警察，而对方是个嫌疑犯。
conj.假如，若是；adj.预备好的，由...供给的
- Provided it's fine we will have a pleasant holiday.如果天气良好，我们的假日将过得非常愉快。
- I will come provided that it's not raining tomorrow.如果明天不下雨，我就来。
adj.部分的；偏爱的；偏心的
- I could give it only partial support.我只能给它部分的支持。
- I'm partial to a drink at bedtime.我临睡前喜欢喝杯酒。
