杜德利摩尔（Dudley Moore）与丽莎明妮莉（Liza Minnelli）一九八一年合作的《二八佳人花公子》描述如同是“麻雀变凤凰”的爱情故事，杜德利在片中是有著万贯家财的小开，却整天无所事事、挥霍生命，直到他遇见了穷小妹丽莎，才找到人生的意义与爱情。该片成本只有七百万美元，却写下九千九百五十万美元的票房成绩，并拿下金球奖音乐与喜剧类最佳影片、最佳男主角、最佳男配角与最佳电影歌曲，奥斯卡则获得最佳男配角及最佳电影歌曲。
演唱主题曲的克里斯多夫克罗斯，当年真是享尽万千宠爱於一身，他以一九七九年推出的首张同名专辑及单曲《Sailing》，打败了强敌法兰克辛纳特拉（Frank Sinatra）与芭芭拉史翠珊（Barbra Streisand），在一九八○年葛莱美奖一举拿下年度专辑、年度唱片、年度歌曲、最佳编曲及最佳新人等五项大奖，光他一人就抱走了四座奖；创下一介新人首张专辑的最佳成绩纪录，至今仍无人能破。
外型高壮、长相平凡的克罗斯，却有著像张信哲一样的细致高音，与他的外型很不搭轧，但唱起民谣曲风歌曲却别有一番风味，他在得奖前不仅很难见诸报章，销量也不好，但一得奖不仅跃上报纸头条，专辑销售还成了市场黑马。
