 In a major political upset, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost his Republican Viriginia primary to college professor David Brat 1, a tea party candidate. Brat will face Democrat 2 Jack 3 Trammel, a colleague at a suburban 4 Richmond College, in November's election. Cantor had been seeking his 8th term.


 
More than a thousand acrobats 5, clowns and other circus employees marched through downtown Mexico City to protest against a new ban on animals in circuses. Their protest followed a new law passed the previous day without opposition 6 in the city legislature.
 
A teen gunmen opened fire at a Portland area high school, klling 14-year-old Emilio Hoffman and injuring a teacher. The gunman was found dead in a school bathroom, apparently 7 after shooting himself.
