[1] President Barack Obama will describe his final health care plan at the White House today. The unveiling comes one day after Obama said he was open to melding four Republican ideas into his proposal. However, GOP resistance to the health care plan remains 1 unanimous.
[2] Representative Charles Rangel says he is not stepping down as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. When asked by reporters that if he was still chairman, Rangel responded "you bet your life." The House Ethics 2 Committee said last week that Rangel violated Congressional gift rules by taking trips to the Caribbean in 2007 and 2008.
[3] The recent earthquake in Chile is bringing new attention to a dangerous undersea fault along the Pacific Northwest. The fault is capable of producing the same type of earthquake as in Chile, possibly inflicting 3 heavy damage to cities like Seattle, Portland and Vancouver. The fault has been dormant 4 for more than 300 years.
[4] A body found in a shallow grave in San Diego is believed to be that of a missing 17-year-old girl. Chelsea King vanished Thursday. Authorities have arrested a registered sex offender 5 for investigation 6 of rape 7 and murder. He is due in court Wednesday.
