1. Nuclear regulators have raised the severity level of the crippled nuclear power plant after assessing radiation leaks from the facility. The Level 7 designation is on par 1 with the Chernobyl disaster. Japanese officials say any health effects caused by the crippled nuclear power plant would be far less than those caused by Chernobyl.
2. Fire officials are excepting hot, dry conditions that have fueled wildfires in Texas to last for the next few days. Officials say they’ve been helped by shifting winds. Firefighters have also been battling several large blazes in rural Texas that have burned hundreds of square miles and destroyed dozens of homes last week.
3. Authorities say a 42-year-old Las Vegas woman has died after a botched buttocks enhancement surgery in a back room of a tile business. The coroner's office says Elena Caro was pronounced dead Saturday. Police say Caro died in the care of two Columbian nationals, who were arrested hours later at the Las Vegas airport.
4. And NASA will announce the retirement 2 plans for three of its shuttles today. Atlantis, Endeavour and Discovery will all go to museums. The orbiters are free of charge except for a transport cost of about 28 million dollars.
