3．与黄色有关的社会内涵
(1)在印刷书籍用的纸张中，黄色纸是最差的一种。19世纪流行的法国廉价小说便是用黄色纸印刷及用黄皮封面的。这种书籍便yellow back。
(2)yellow book(Yellow Pages)并不是指汉语中的黄色书刊，而是指常见于美国商店或家庭用的黄色纸印刷的商业分类电话簿。汉语中的黄色书刊，其“黄色”意为下流的”．在英语中可译为filthy 6 books
(3)yellow journalism都是指通过不择手段地夸张、渲染来招揽读者的一种新闻编辑作风，也就是黄色编辑作风。
