Heavy fog delays flights in Xinjiang

URUMQI, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Heavy fog in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous 1 Region, on Sunday left 87 flights delayed or diverted.
Twenty-five inbound flights from cities such as Beijing, Dalian and Chengdu to Urumqi have been diverted to nearby alternate airports as heavy fog disrupted air traffic over the Urumqi International Airport from 11:45 a.m., the airport control center said.
Meanwhile, 62 outbound flights have been delayed, the center said.
Traffic at the airport began to resume after the fog dispersed 2 at about 3:30 p.m., the center said.
Foggy weather was also seen in other parts of China on Sunday morning, such as in provinces of Jiangxi and Jilin, affecting road and air traffic.
