South Korea had quite a solid first quarter in terms of economic performance. The country saw 0.9 percent GDP growth in the first quarter, a sign that suggests a recovery in the near future.
South Korea’s economic rise is fuelled by a sharp upswing in both construction spending and exports. The positive performance also reinforces market expectations that the Bank of Korea will begin raising interest rates later this year.
Analysts 1 say the positive performance will likely continue because the world’s advanced economies are recovering and that should boost 2 exports. Analysts are expecting the South Korean economy to grow about 4.1 percent this year.
