More armed police officers are being deployed 1 nationwide to conduct regular patrols amid rising concerns over public security. The police will be armed with handguns as they patrol city streets in key areas with large numbers of people such as railway stations, airports, shopping malls, schools and hospitals.
According to a national regulation on the use of firearms, police are allowed to use deadly force if repeated warnings are ignored during 15 specific circumstances including arson 2, murder, hostage taking, the hijacking 3 of aircraft, the theft of firearms and other crimes that pose serious threats to public safety.
