According to survey results released on Monday, the number of books read per year by Chinese adults has essentially 1 stayed the same, but newspapers and magazines are falling out of favor. The survey polled over 40,000 adults in 29 provincial-level regions, and found that Chinese read a little less than 5 print books and over 2 digital ones in a year.
For more analysis, we're joined by Mr. Liu Shinan, a senior columnist 2 at China Daily. Good evening, Mr. Liu.
1. The current trend is of paper books increasingly being replaced by digital ones. What are your views on this - is this a positive change?
2. Right now many bookstores are struggling to survive. How do you look at the future of the publishing industry?
