The annual NBA Draft is where the fortunes of a franchise 1 can turn with the right selection, and on this night it was the Cleveland Cavaliers who had the first pick and they made history with it.
So the Cavs select Anthony Bennett, who becomes the first Canadian ever to be selected number one overall, in the draft. Ironically, Bennett will now be teammates with Tristan Thompson, who previously 2 was the highest drafted man from north of the border, when he was picked fourth two years ago.
The Orlando Magic went small with the second overall selection, taking Indiana guard Victor Ola-dipo. Otto Porter Junior was selected third overall by the Washington Wizards.
Nerlens Noel, who many thought would be drafted number one, slipped to sixth and was plucked by the New Orleans Pelicans 3, but was then traded to Philadelphia. Trey Burke who was selected ninth by Minnesota was also dealt on draft day.
