Officials say up to 49 Taliban insurgents 1 and five Afghan soldiers have been killed following an attack by the Taliban in the eastern Afghan province of Paktiya. One soldier was captured during the fighting. Several foreign militants 2 were also involved in the clash.
Also on Monday, two international troops were killed in Taliban attacks in eastern Afghanistan.
