COPENHAGEN, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Eighteen leading Danish and Denmark-based international companies jointly 1 launched a talent-hunting alliance, the Consortium for Global Talent, earlier this week to attract and retain more skilled foreign professionals into Denmark.
The idea was initiated 2 by the shipping 3 giant Maersk in January 2010 and received support from other leading businesses in Denmark as Novo Nordisk, Vestas, Arla Foods, Calsberg, and Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen.
Now the consortium consists of 18 of the largest Danish companies and international companies based in Denmark.
Tine Horwitz, CEO of Consortium for Global Talent, said that ageing is one of the greatest challenges for the European labor 4 market and the EU countries will be in need of 40 million immigrants in order to maintain the workforce 5 of today within a few years.
As for Denmark, the prognoses predict that it will lack a considerable number of highly skilled professionals already by 2020.
Considering the sustainability of the economy growth and the society development in the future, Horwitz believed that it is crucial that highly skilled professionals from abroad choose to work in Denmark.
Therefore, the consortium seeks to coordinate 6 the member companies' efforts in relation to foreign labor and strengthen the dialogues among the government authorities, universities, private companies and local communities to make Denmark one of the best places to work, live and study in.
Horwitz argued that improving the practical issues as finding an international school for the children, a job for the accompanying partner will contribute to attracting foreign labor to Denmark.
She stressed that attracting Chinese talents is on the top of her agenda. She will give a speech at an EU-China Seminar on Mobility 7 and Migration 8, which will take place in Beijing on Sept. 5-6.
Besides, she will also visit Chinese universities and research institutions and discuss how to attract Chinese talents with the Chinese partners.
