A heavy downpour has hit Beijing, ending three days of high humidity and smog in the city.
Rain started falling at around nine last night, with an average precipitation of 11 millimeters. It was one of the heaviest storms in the city since the rainy season began. Traffic was not affected 1, thanks to infrastructure 2 improvement after last year’s havoc 3 that left 79 people dead.
Still, the city’s flood relief authorities had emergency relief workers and equipment on standby at crossovers. Public weather alerts were also sent by text message ahead of the storm.
