Bayern win, Dortmund suffer setback in German Bundesliga

BERLIN, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- German record champions Bayern Munich edged Augsburg 2-0 while defending champions Dortmund suffered a 3-2 loss against Wolfsburg at the 16th round of Bundesliga on Saturday.
Bundesliga front-runners Bayern Munich extended their unbeaten run to 11 games following a hard earned 2-0 win over Augsburg.
Courageous 1 Augsburg almost secured a bright start as Sascha Moelders nearly opened the scoring from promising 2 position.
Nevertheless, the Bavarians piled on the pressure to start their run on Augsburg's goal.
Mario Mandzukic had three chances to break the deadlock 3 but yet Augsburg were able to deny the opener.
Five minutes before halftime break, Augsburg's Gibril Sankoh was penalized 4 for handball inside the box to cause a penalty for the record champions.

The "BVB" caught a bright start on home soil as Marco Reus's free kick cross from the left wing ended up untouched in Wolfsburg goal with six minutes into the match.

Jakub Blaszczykowski converted the penalty from the spot to restore the draw.
Ten men Dortmund frenetically pressed for the winner but they were caught flat-footed at the 73rd minute by Wolfsburg.
A through ball by Diego found Bas Dost who had all time and space to slot into bottom right with only Dortmund goalie Roman Weidenfeller to beat.
"I am proud of my team, weather it was luck or other things, the bottom line is I'm happy," said Wolfsburg caretaker Lorenz Guenther Koestner.
Stuttgart wrapped up their third consecutive 10 win following their 3-1 victory over Schalke, thanks to the hat-trick by Vedad Ibisevic.
Stuttgart broke the deadlock with two minutes played as Ibisevic exploited a cross by Ibrahima Traore to score the opener.
The guests remained unfazed as they levelled the scores nine minutes later through Ciprian Marica. The hosts regained 11 the lead seven minutes before the interval 12 when Ibisevic converted a foul 13 play penalty.
After the break Stuttgart were not done with the scoring as Ibisevic sealed his hat-trick at the 61st minute with a follow up shot from close range.
