Hong Kong Design Institute students and teachers have transformed a humble 1 plastic light into a glittering masterpiece which will go on display at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
Featuring 200 red lightshades, Infinite Constellation 2 has been installed in the atrium of the Hong Kong Pavilion, which overlooks the main concourse of the China Pavilion zone.
It will look particularly impressive at night when the mirrored walls of the atrium create multiple reflections of the lights, giving it an infinite dimension.
日前，香港知专设计学院的师生运用平凡的塑料灯罩，设计出名为“光耀无限”的艺术装置，将被吊挂于上海世博会香港馆的显著位置，向全球观众展示。
这个名为“光耀无限”的艺术装置安放在香港馆首层展区上方，世博会期间，每天经过香港馆的数以万计的观众，都会清楚地看到这个照明艺术品。入夜后，艺术品会更加光彩耀眼，经墙壁和天花的玻璃反射出无限光影。
香港知专设计学院设计系主任卢林教授介绍，这一设计的出发点在于希望用一点创意，把日常用品转化为一件可观而有意义的艺术作品。装置采用的红色灯罩，常见于香港街市售卖鲜肉和鸡蛋的摊档，俗称“鸡蛋灯”。参与创作的学生钱尚表示，这种灯罩是第1代“香港制造”产品的代表，设计于20世纪60年代，至今仍在生产及使用，采用这种灯罩旨在显示香港既坚守传统而又富有创意。设计者用了约200个灯罩来创作这个夺目的装置，为香港馆提供一个吸引无数参观者的聚焦点。
