VIENNA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Austria's most modern opera house opened on Thursday in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria.
The modern opera house, Linz Music Theatre, supposed to be the spearhead of the European architecture of opera house, costed 236 million U.S. dollars, and took four years to accomplish the project.
Terry Pawson, an English architect, who was chosen to design the Linz music theatre in 2006, initiated 1 the project in 2009.
First plans to construct an opera house in Linz has already discussed in 1992, but 60 percent of the Upper Austrian population opposed the construction of an opera house in Linz. Nevertheless the government finally decided 2 to build a music theatre in 2003.
