"Well, you must persevere," said Fanny sententiously. But it was obvious that her confidence in her own prescriptions 1 had been shaken.
“那你就应当坚持，”范尼像引用警句一样说，“不能持之以恒，绝对一事无成。”但是她对自己开的药方也失去了信心。
Nothing can be achieved without perseverance 2.
