For500 years, this land has been shared, not simply by blacks and whites, but by awhole host of races and colors. Through good times and bad, there've beenvisitors and settlers, invaders 3 and fugitives 4. The course people themselves arealmost as new to area as white Europeans, arriving here over centuries in a slowmovement of people out of central Africa. But the truly modern face of the GardenRoute is far more recent again. Food, drink, scenery and weather have allattracted the wealthy, the prosperous and the tourists.
