Uganda Continues to Search for Bodies After Boat Capsized in Lake Victoria
What started out as a fun boat ride turned tragic 1 when an unlicensed, uninsured and unregistered vessel 3 capsized Saturday in Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest body of water.

There have been many calls for stricter safety rules, but Uganda’s marine regulations are based on a law that was enacted 9 in 1939.The law says any vessel owner who breaches 10 the conditions of a license 2, including overloading,chooses between paying a fine of less than 1 dollar or spending 12 months in jail.The vessel’s owner and his wife both died in the accident.
