1882, James Joyce, the Irish author whose works include Ulysses and Finnegan’s Wake, is born in Dublin.
1996, “I am singing in the rain, just singing in the rain.” Gene 6 Kelly, dancer, actor and choreographer 7 of “Singin’ in the Rain” theme, dies in Beverly Hills, California. He was 83. And 1979, punk rock musician Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols, dies of a drug overdose in New York. He was 21.
