A broad trough over central Western Australia is generating showers and a few storms while a trough over South Australia is producing isolated 1 showers over the state's north. A very hot air mass ahead of the trough is filtering into northern South Australia, western New South Wales and Queensland.
Looking around the country:
In Queensland, mild near the coast and windy in the north, and very hot throughout the west.
In New South Wales, very hot in the north and west, and possible showers and storms along the ranges.
Cool southerly winds in Victoria with isolated showers in the far east.
To Tasmania, showers, mostly in the north and cool throughout with light winds.
In South Australia, very hot in the northern and central parts with moderate winds near the coast.
Isolated showers and storms in northern and central Western Australia, gusty 2 winds along the coast.
Moist easterly winds about the Northern Territory's Top End. Light winds and mostly dry elsewhere.
And looking ahead to tomorrow's forecast for the capitals:
A possible shower or storm in Brisbane. Sydney, partly cloudy. A possible late shower in Canberra. Partly cloudy in Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide. Perth cloudy. And for Darwin, a sunny day.
