A deal has been reached to send Australian Special Forces into Iraq. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop 1 has been in Baghdad where she has reached a legal agreement with the Iraqi government. Australian force has been on standby in the United Arab Emirates for a month. And Australian fighter jets have already been taking part in the airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Iraq.
We have reached agreement for a legal framework, and now it will be a matter for military to determine when our Special Forces will be deployed 2.

Authorities in Nepal say some Australians remain unaccounted for after deadly snowstorms on a popular tourist track. Two Australians were among more than 30 people rescued yesterday. At least, 39 people are known to have died since the storms hit late last week.
