1. Startle sb out of sth
这个短语意指把人吓得魂飞魄散， sth可以是one's wits，senses，或者mind，表示被吓得没了知觉……
例：The explosion startled Polly out of her senses.
波莉被爆炸声吓傻了。
2. Scare sb to death
被别人吓到了，你可以说：You scared me. (你吓着了我。) 如果别人把你吓得不轻，则可以用上面这个短语，表示“吓死了”。
例：You nearly scared me to death.
你差点吓死我。
3. Frighten the pants off
吓到裤子都掉了，很形象地形容出人惊恐万分，被吓得屁滚尿流。
