Rescue workers in central and southern parts of the US are still searching for survivors 1, following a wave of tornadoes 2 that turned buildings to rubble 3. At least 26 people are known to have died.
More than a dozen tornadoes blazed across several states on Sunday, decimating buildings, overturning trucks and bringing down trees and power lines. Tens of thousands of people are without power in Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi. Arkansas was the hardest hit, with at least 14 people dead across the state.
The US National Weather Service is warning that more tornadoes, damaging winds and hail storms are set to strike in parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Louisiana.
