1. US health officials are warning Americans not to travel to 3 African countries hit by an outbreak of Ebola. The World Health Organization reports that the worst recorded outbreak in history has surpassed 700 deaths in western Africa. Officials at the CDC said the risk of the virus coming to the US remains 1 small.
2. Representatives of Eric Cantor bid his final farewell as House majority leader during a 10-minute speech on the House floor. Cantor was unexpectedly defeated by TEA Party backed opponent and its republican primary in June. Cantor has said he will serve out the remainder of his House term which ends in January.
3. Emergency workers were called out to the scene at a trench 2 collapse 3 in Rye, New York, that trapped a pair of workers Thursday morning. One of the workers was pulled out quickly, but it took more than 30 minutes to rescue the 2nd worker. Their injuries were not concerned to be life threatening.
4. And embattled Baltimore Ravens 4 running back, Ray Rice, made his 1st public apology since being suspended for two games by the NFL. The league issued their suspension following charges he had physically 5 assaulted his wife in February. Rice told the press he had let the Baltimore community down.
