This is AP News Minute.

The Senate appears headed for a showdown over President Donald Trump's Supreme 1 Court nominee 2. Democrats 3 have secured the votes for a filibuster 4 to block the nomination 5 of Neil Gorsuch, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is poised 6 to change long-standing Senate rules -- the so-called "nuclear option" -- to get Gorsuch confirmed.

The White House is condemning 7 what it describes as a heinous 8 chemical attack against civilians 9 by the Syrian government. Spokesman Sean Spicer said the attack is reprehensible 10 and cannot be ignored by the civilized 11 world.

A spring storm has dumped up to a foot of snow in some parts of Colorado. Forecasters had predicted about an inch, but the snowstorm dumped at least 8 inches in Denver and up to a foot in the mountains.

And a stunning 12, almost 60-carat diamond known as "The Pink Star" sold for a record 71.2 million dollars at a Sotheby's auction 13 in Hong Kong on Tuesday. The sale of the oval mixed-cut diamond reportedly set a new world record for any diamond or jewel sale.
