[00:04.24]Think about the last time you felt a negative emotion:

[00:09.70]like stress, anger, or frustration 1.

[00:12.33]Were you able to think as you were going through that negativity?

[00:16.49] Today, let me show you a simply

[00:19.33] but effective exercise to deal with a negative emotion.

[00:23.16]The next time you find yourself in the middle of a very stressful time,

[00:27.75] or you feel angry or frustrated 2, stop!

[00:31.36]Whatever you're doing, stop and sit for one minute.

[00:35.19]While you're sitting there,

[00:37.05] completely immerse yourself in the negative emotion.

[00:40.22]Allow that emotion to consume you.

[00:42.84]Allow yourself one minute to truly feel that emotion.

[00:46.89] Take the entire minute, but only one minute,

[00:51.05] to do nothing else but feel that emotion.

[00:54.11]Once you've allowed yourself to be totally immersed

[00:57.28] in the emotion and really feel it,

[00:59.47] you will be surprised to find that

[01:01.55]the emotion clears rather quickly.

[01:03.95]If you feel you need to hold on to the emotion or a little longer,

[01:07.01] that is ok.

[01:08.44]Allow yourself another minute to feel the emotion.

[01:11.93]When you feel you've had enough of the emotion,

[01:14.35] take a deep breath, as you exhale 3,

[01:17.08] release all that negativity with your breath.

[01:20.47]By allowing that negative emotion the space to be truly felt,

[01:25.06] you are dealing 4 with the emotion

[01:27.25] rather than stuffing it down and trying not to feel it.

[01:30.42] You are actually taking away the power of the emotion

[01:33.81]by giving it the space and attention it needs.

[01:36.98]When you immerse yourself in the emotion,

[01:39.61]and realize that it is only emotion,

[01:42.89]it loses its control.

[01:45.07] You can clear your head and proceed with your task.

[01:48.57]Meditation 5 is when you focus your attention to help you feel calm,

[01:52.73]relaxed and stress-free.

[01:54.70] Meditation gives you a clear consciousness about yourself

[01:57.98] as a person and a clear understanding of your life.
