[04:12.32]Magic Tricks

[04:16.03]If you like, you can do tricks at a party and be announced as, "The Magician 5".

[04:24.24]When everybody wants a bit of fun but nothing really happens,

[04:29.53]it is the moment to start one of these tricks.

[04:34.14]You won't need any special materials for these tricks,

[04:39.14]nor will you need to practise them very much.

[04:43.50]A trick with a coin, a handkerchief and a friend:

[04:49.55]Put the coin on your palm. Cover the coin with the handkerchief.

[04:56.06]Ask several people to put their hand beneath the handkerchief and feel the coin,

[05:02.94]to make sure that it is still there.

[05:06.94]Then take the corner of the handkerchief and pull it rapidly off your hand,

[05:13.38]The coin has gone! How? You must make sure the last friend knows the trick!

[05:21.26]Your last friend removes the coin when he or she seems to be just feeling it.

[05:27.64]And nobody knows where it has gone!

[05:32.14]A trick with a piece of paper and a pencil:

[05:37.32]Say that you can communicate your thoughts to people.

[05:42.36]Write on the piece of paper the word, No.

[05:47.83]Don't let your friends see what you have written.

[05:51.97]Say, "Now I will communicate this word into your minds." Pretend to concentrate.

[06:01.08]Ask someone if he or she knows what is written on the piece of paper.

[06:07.02]They will say, "No!" And you say, "Quite correct! I wrote on the paper, No!"

[06:15.30]A Trick with an egg and some salt:

[06:20.34]Ask your friends to stand the egg upright 6 on the table. They won't manage to do it.

[06:27.83]Say that you can speak to the chicken inside.

[06:32.65]Say, "Chicken! Can you hear me? Get ready to balance your egg!"

[06:40.64]When you first get the egg back from your friends,

[06:45.47]pretend to kiss the egg at the base.

[06:50.11]Make the base wet. Then put the base into salt which is in your other hand


[06:58.14]The salt will stick to the egg. Then put the egg on the table.

[07:05.20]Twist the egg around a few times as this will arrange the grains of salt.
