Russia says its navy is ready to escort ships transporting Syria’s chemical stockpile to the destruction site.
The stockpile is due to be destroyed at sea on a US ship, under an international deal. Denmark and Norway are planning to ship the chemicals from the port city of Latakia, under their own naval 1 escorts. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says his country will be ready to provide aid on both land and sea.
