　　查尔斯毕业于伊顿公学和牛津大学Magdalen学院，1986年到1991年，他曾担任NBC新闻今日节目的记者。1993年到1995年，他曾在美国全国广播公司晚间新闻（星期日），和NBC任职。在NBC，他曾被派到30个国家和地区工作。
