每次对话的开场前总要预热一下。你会以什么样的方式展开这个对话呢，是从谈论天气开始呢，还是谈论衣着，还是其他呢？
Maura: And today, we are chatting 1 about chatting. We’re talking about small talk.
Harp 2: Yes. Today we’re going 3 to talk about small talk.
Maura: And that’s the kind of conversation 4 that you have with people that’s not complicated 5 or difficult; really easy conversation that you have with people you don’t know very well.
Harp: And today we’ll break down this topic 6 into meeting 7 new people …
Maura: And then we’re going to give you some situations 8 where you might 9 meet these new people or you might have small talk.
Harp: Exactly 10. And we’ll finish by talking about icebreakers: ways to start small talk.
Maura: Yeah. Different ways you can start conversations 11. OK, so first, we’ll talk about meeting new people and the small talk that happens. Now, Harp, do you like meeting new people?
Harp: I do like meeting new people, but, you know, I’m kinda shy 12.
Maura: Are you?
Harp: Yeah, I know. People are surprised 13, because I’m quite outgoing 14, but I’m shy when I meet new people.
Maura: You know, Harp, I never would 15 have guessed that, because when we met, it was 16 in our French 17 class, and you were in front of me, we made 18 eye contact 19, and right away, you said 20, “Hey, how’s it going?” So laid 21 back.
