时尚一个轮回。今天哈皮和毛拉主要在谈论时尚,为什么先前流行过的东西再过几年又会重新流行开来呢?

Maura: That’s right. Do it. OK. Let’s get to our episode 1 today. Today’s episode is a Chatterbox episode, and that is where we get to chat about all different kinds of topics of interest.

Harp 2: Yes. And like you mentioned before, this episode was a suggestion by our listener Uriel.

Maura: Yeah. We’re not sure how to pronounce your name exactly, of course. I think it may be Uriel.

Harp: Oh, yeah. That might be right.

Maura: Anyways, we definitely 3 say thank you for your suggestion. And our episode is going to be about fashion.

Harp: Yes. It’s gonna be all about fashion. We’re gonna start with talking about fashion over the years.

Maura: Mmhmm. Because, as you know, it’s always changing.

Harp: Yes.

Maura: And then we’re going to talk about shopping, and where you can buy these clothes that you dress yourself in.

Harp: Yup. And then we’re gonna talk about our style.

Maura: Mmhmm. That should be interesting. OK, so first, let’s talk about fashion over the years. You know, I said fashion is always changing, but at the same time, it’s always repeating itself.

Harp: That’s what I was thinking. I feel there’s not a lot of new ideas in fashion. It seems like, more like, ideas are just recycled. You’ll see something and then 10 years later you’ll see the same thing, but just with a small variation 4.

Maura: Yeah, it’s funny. And these clothing ideas that become in style again… Somehow they do seem new and fresh, even though they were already in style, like, 50 years ago.

Harp: Yeah. It seems fresh and new when they come out, but if you do a little bit of digging, you’ll see that it was already fashionable.

Maura: OK. So let’s talk about some fashion styles that have been in fashion over the years.

Harp: Well, something I always think about: bell-bottom jeans.

Maura: Yeah, me too. I don’t know why they make such an impression on people, but they do. Maybe just ’cause the name is fun: bell bottoms. And bell bottoms are jeans or pants that have a really large bottom, so they start out at your waist fitting 5 you pretty well, but the legs go out, out, out, out, and then, when it gets down to your feet, they’re really wide at the bottom.

Harp: And you said the name is fun, but I think they’re actually kind of fun because it’s like a party at your feet; your pants are so loose there.

Maura: That’s true. When you walk around in bell bottoms, they really swing around because there’s so much fabric 6.

Harp: Yeah. And they were really popular in the ’60s and the ’70s, so I think about the disco and the dancing of that time. So bell bottoms are just fun.
