Nowadays,supermarkets are constantly evolving to get ahead of the competition.They differ mainly in their sizes rather than the products they have to offer.
现今，各家超市仍在不断地发展改进以便超越其竞争的对手。全国有几千（万）家超市。他们主要的不同是在于其规模而不是在于他们所提供的产品。
The demand for modern Super-Supermarkets has become extremely high during the last ten years.Nationwide chain stores such as Sam's Club,Costco,and Wal-Mart have started to combine the normal department store with grocery shopping in one convenient package.Just one step into today's supermarket and you will find everything from food,household products,to hardware supplies as well as cloths and sporting goods.
在近十年来，（一般人对于）现代的超级超市，要求其提供极高标准的服务。如Sam's Costco和Wal-Mart之类的全国连锁店都开始结合普通的百货公司和杂货店，成为一个方便的购物配套服务。只要走进现代化的超级市场，你就可以买到（找到）从食物，家用物品，五金，还有衣服和运动商品等等的所有东西。
To better serve the needs of the customers,many supermarkets have installed state of the art self-checkout terminals,which enables shppers to scan and pay for their goods.This strategy both shortenes the wait line and eliminates the high cost of hiring clerks.Can you imagine what supermarkets will be like ten years from now?
