J: how's it going?

P: I'm in a really bad mood, actually. How about you?

J: to be honest, I'm a bit fed up.

P: what's wrong?

J: well, my boyfriend was supposed to call me last night, but he never did.

P: that's too bad. I'm sure there's a logical explaination for it. Don't be too upset about it.

J: the thing is, this isn't the first time he's promised to do something and then didn't.

P: I see how that can get a bit annoying.

J: a bit? I'm extremely annoyed that he didn't phone me when he promised me that he would! He's such a liar 1.

P: so what are you going to do about it?

J: I don't know. I've got mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I really want to end it with him, but on the other hand, I don't want to be without him.

P: what do you think would make you happier?

J: in the long run, I think breaking up with him would make me much happier, but I know that I'll be depressed 2 about it for a few weeks first.

P: relationships can be confusing sometimes.

J: what would you do if you were me?

P: I'd call him and dump him now! You deserve better than him!
