The new Harbin-Dalian high-speed railway has reached 300 kilometers per hour during its latest test run.
Despite the potential for extremely low temperatures, officials say the line has proved safe and reliable.
Gao Wen is the deputy 1 director of the Shenyang Railway Administration.
"Since the commissioning of the line on December 1, 2012, it has withstood test of extremely low temperatures and heavy snow. According to the meteorological department, the train withstood as many as 31 snowstorms, and the snowfall was the largest in the recent 50 years. But in the middle of April, it is expected to face another strong wind and heavy snow,"
The Harbin-Dalian line will begin its summer schedule later this month.
The line, which links the northeastern city of Harbin with the port city of Dalian, currently 2 runs at 200-kilometers per hour, making it a 5-hour trip.
Summer speeds will cut the trip down to 3.5-hours.
