5. 已知观点的例子可以略读
阅读中，如果已经知道作者举例的目的，即用这个例子来说明某个理论，解决某个问题或者证实某个观点，那么这个例子我们就可以略读。考生必须明白，考点往往不是考例子本身，而是它的目的和作用。
例9 America’s injured workers could sue for damages in a court of law, but they still faced a number of tough legal barriers. For example, employees had to prove that their injuries directly resulted from employer negligence 1 and that they themselves were ignorant about potential hazards in the workplace. 译文：美国的受伤工人可以诉之法院要求赔偿金，但是他们仍需面对重重法律障碍。比如，工人必须证明他们所受的伤是直接由老板的疏忽引起的，而他们自己对工作场所潜在的危险一无所知。
例10 Researchers who are unfamiliar 2 with the cultural and ethnic 3 groups they are studying must take extra precautions to shed any biases 4 they bring with them from their own culture.
