 For the second time in two weeks, House Representatives are at a loss for a speaker. Majority leader Kevin McCarthy dropped out of the race to succeed John Boehner just moments before house representatives were set to vote. Here's NPR's Susan Davis. Kevin McCarthy was about to clinch 1 his party's nomination 2 to the next speaker of the house. But the California republican stunned 3 his colleagues when he announced he was dropping out of the race. McCarthy told republicans he did not believe he was the leader to unite them. HIs decision forced outgoing speaker John Boehner to immediately postpone 4 the speaker election, leaving house republicans in disarray 5. McCarthy was heavily favored against two of his opponents, congressman 6 Jason Chaffetz of Utah and Daniel Webster of Florida. Both say they'll remain in the speaker's race. Boehner said he expected to hold another nominee 7 election in the coming weeks. Another eclectic group of musicians will be considered for induction 15 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2016 including Janet Jackson, Chicago and The Cars and Steve Miller 17. This year's Nobel Prize for literature goes to a * Russian woman who writes history based on the voices of ordinary people.
